Carnations are a popular design of flower for any cake occasion. With these three sizes of carnation cutters, you can always make gum paste flowers for any design.
- Roll out the gum paste or fondant on a non-stick surface using powdered sugar for dusting for easy removal.
- Cut out three flower shapes using one size of cutter.
- Using a cocktail stick placed on the edge of the paste, roll backwards & forwards to create a frilled effect.
- Complete the flower by joining the three layers of petals together using water & CMC: Fondant Stabilizer.
Tips: To obtain a finer finish, use a ball tool to soften the edges of the petals. The petals can be used immediately or to create added dimension, place into a small cupped shape to dry. A wire can be inserted into each petal for use in wired arrangements and sprays.
